Essential is a church designed to reach a generation of young people who believe that the church, the Gospel, and God’s Word are no longer essential to their lives. We desire to be a simple, yet relevant church that Magnifies Christ and Multiplies His Kingdom.
Bellevue is the fifth largest city in Washington, with a population of more than 126,000. A high-tech and retail center, more than 140,000 jobs and a skyline of gleaming high-rises make Bellevue a very desirable city to live in. In contrast to its upscale downtown, much of Bellevue retains a small-town feel, with thriving, woodsy neighborhoods and a vast network of green spaces and recreational facilities that keep people calling the place “a city in a park.” The city’s schools are consistently rated among the best in the country.
In 2008, Bellevue was named number 1 in CNN Money’s list of the best places to live and launch a business. The name “Bellevue” is French for “beautiful view” which aptly describes the scenic vistas of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains as well as Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish from within the incorporated city.
With well over 120,000 people in Bellevue and only one English speaking Southern Baptist Church in the entire city, Bellevue is in great spiritual need. These educated and successful people have jobs, families, and friends, however, they do not have Jesus.
