urban planning and discipleship conversation

Guest speakers Dhati Lewis and Sam Dula

Thursday, October 6, 5:30-8:30pm

The Hallows Church West Seattle

3420 SW Cloverdale St, Seattle, WA 98126

It's one thing to plant a church in an urban context but something altogether different to create a discipleship culture in an urban context. Why is that the case? Well, it's simpleā€¦ regardless of the context churches can be planted without one disciple ever being made. However, if disciples are being made regardless of the context, churches will be planted. Come engage with Dhati Lewis, Team Director of BLVD and Lead Pastor of Blueprint Church, on his experience of creating a discipleship culture in the urban context.

Dhati is the Lead Pastor at Blueprint Church in Atlanta, GA. Dhati, born and raised in California, moved to Texas for his undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas and his graduate studies at Dallas Theological Seminary (Master of Arts in Cross Cultural Ministries). He served as the college pastor there and eventually planted a church, which he pastored for three years. During that time, he also served as chaplain to UNT's football team and coached high school football (sports have always been a big passion for Dhati and a large part of how he came to the Lord). Dhati furthered his training in Little Rock, AR, completing a year long course designed to train pastors in the area of church planting. Dhati, along with 25 other individuals then launched Blueprint Church in 2009.

Dhati's passions are for church planting and discipleship. He is currently getting his DMin at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Great Commission Mobilization, with a focus on planting multiethnic churches in the urban context. He has been a part of planting several churches in cities across the country and continues to train scores of leaders to this end.

Dhati serves as the BLVD Experience Team Director with the Send Network Team at the North American Mission Board.

Dhati is married to Angie Lewis and they have six beautiful children.
